The Regeneration Strategies Research Of Existing Residence In City

Residential area is an integral part of the city, which is also an important content ofsustainable urban development. Over the years, the renovation of existing residentialarea in our country roughly took the way of “ruin and rebuild”, which has been provedto have many drawbacks. So some more reasonable and feasible renovation strategiesshould be taken urgently.This paper is about the renovation and regeneration of contemporary residential quarters in Xi’ an. Based on the research theory and practices worldwide, the writer selected the typical residential quarters which are built in the late20th century in Xi’an as an research object. After this, field survey and questionnaires have been made in order to analyze and summarize existing problems and characteristics thoroughly. In the process, ithas been found that the residential status of these quarters cannot meet the demand of daily needs. According to the above problem and realistic constraints, detailed renovationstrategies have been raised in the following three aspects: building unit, outdoor environment and energy consumption. In addition, typical renovation ways have also been showed in the paper which might be helpful to big renewal practices in the future.This thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, whichmainly introduced the background, main content and the significance of this thesis, andalso include the line of thinking; the second chapter systemically studied both domesticand foreign relevant theory about the renovation of existing residential area，and alsodid some case study; the third chapter based on a research of some residential areas inXi’an which were built during1980s and1990s；the fourth chapter tried to raise somestrategies for the renovation of existing residential area on the above basis；the last chapter is the conclusion, which summarized the whole thesis.
