With the development of material industry, many new materials are constantly emerging. Theapplication of nonmetallic gear is becoming more and more widely. In many aspects of life we usethe non-metallic gears such as the auxiliary drive system on the car, washing machine, printer, gearreducer and so on. The transmission of nylon gear and steel pinion is a new transmission type, inwhich nylon material is instead of steel for the gear. Nylon gear engages with steel spiral bevelgear. The gear pair can transfer power and movement. But there is no unified design standard fornon-metallic gears. So the research and analysis of nonmetallic gears is vital significance.The theoretical analysis and experimental exploration about nylon and steel spiral bevel gearmeshing transmission is launched in this paper. According to the principle of gear engagement, thelocal synthesis method, tooth contact analysis, non-metallic viscoelastic and gear heat equation ofthe temperature field theory, combined with the finite element analysis software ANSYS,3Dgraphics software SolidWorks and its programming interface API, mathematical computingsoftware MATLAB and VB programming software, I calculate the tooth surface equations andtheir processing parameters, establish the three-dimensional models of the teeth, make stress andthermal analysis about nylon and steel spiral bevel gear meshing transmission, and the influence onthe temperature of gears about speed and load. Finally I perform an gear cutting experiment withthe spiral bevel gears. Combined with rolling inspection experiment I obtain the gear’s processingparameters. These processing parameters are prepared for the subsequent batch injection moldings.Based on the lapping practice, the driving noise of gears of nylon gear and steel pinion and thesteel gears have been tested and compared. The result shows that the gear in the introduction ofnylon gear drive noise will significantly reduce.
