For the research of this new type gear transmission—logarithmic spiral bevel gear,our team has completed the establishment of the meshing theory of logarithmic spiral bevelgear system, the forming principle of logarithmic spiral bevel gear tooth surface wasstudied, the gear mesh mathematical model was built and the tooth surface equation wasdeduced. On this basis, to define the geometry parameters and drive parameters of thelogarithmic spiral bevel gear, then establish the three dimensional model of logarithmicspiral bevel gear, and a strength calculation was carried out. The gear machining principlewas in-depth studied and processed out a pair of gear samples through the numericalcontrol,So in this paper, it is necessary to study the tooth contact characteristics andvibration characteristics in the process of logarithmic spiral bevel gear drive.This research works mainly in the following aspects:1. On the basis of a three-dimensional model of a pair of meshing logarithmic spiralbevel gear,to make the static contact analysis of gears by using finite element softwareABAQUS, to get the change of the gear tooth surface contact area under the light-load,including the size, shape and location in different meshing moment, and the changeof the tooth surface contact stress.2. On the basis of the static contact analysis, the further analysis of dynamic contact tosimulate the changes of the gear tooth contact area sizes、shape、location and the toothcontact stress in the different moments with actual working conditions. Then, comparingwith the experimental results obtained by the logarithmic spiral bevel gear tooth contactarea of the sample detection experiments, to summer up the characteristic of thelogarithmic spiral bevel tooth contact area.3. According to the comparison results, obtained the poor contact in the case of thecontact area of the spiral bevel gear, and in accordance with the basic principles and practical experience in the contact zone correction, and put forward a effective method forcorrection of the contact area4. Modal analysis of logarithmic spiral bevel gear pair by using the finite elementmethod, to extract the frequencies and mode shapes of the first ten order modal. Throughthe each mode analysis, we can understand the vibration characteristics of the gear. It canavoid the happening of resonance destruction in actual work of the gear, and also canprovide the basis for the fault diagnosis of the gear.
