Traditional gear design method in order to meet the strength and life theory asguidelines, and ignored the influence of the selected parameters on the transmissionefficiency. At present, used in the design of the transmission efficiency is obtainedthrough the experiment statistical result,According to the precision grade andlubrication of the gear form look-up table, check the value is not a precise value, Forgear drive, especially the multistage gear and planetary gear transmission efficiency willhave a larger design calculation error. So research of the gear transmission efficiency hasimportant theoretical and practical significance. This article from the perspective of theoretical mechanics deduced the gearmeshing efficiency formula, gear tribology studies using the EHL theory, the calculationof the lubricant film thickness as a basis, which in turn determine the state of lubricationgear, different lubrication select the different state friction coefficient calculated by theformula. This article uses integral mean value theorem based on the friction coefficienthas been simplified formula is proposed for engineering practice to use the concept ofmean equivalent coefficient of friction.Initiative tribology design introduced in geardesign to improve meshing efficiency, research backlash effect on the transmissionefficiency is proposed backlash rational design approach.Design strength at low can not be met the lubrication conditions, lubrication moredifficult to meet the design strength at high speed conditions, active tribology designcan better balance the problems. This took into account the above factors, the use ofMathCAD engineering calculation software for gear transmission efficiency calculation. This article describes the gear tribology model applies only to the Newtonian fluidand smooth tooth surface contact. In order to make the model applied to the moregeneral condition and close to the engineering practice, we must consider the impact ofthe non-Newtonian fluid shear and the tooth surface roughness effects.
