The mountainous freeway due to topography, geological conditions,environmental protection, construction and other factors limit, often larger and longerlongitudinal slope or a combination of slope sections, thus forming a climbingsections. On the climbing sections, large vehicles because of its climbing abilitycaused by lack of speed reduction phenomenon has a great influence on road capacityand traffic safety, and set the climbing lane is an effective means to solve the aboveproblem. But the domestic set in the climbing lane there are still some shortcomings.The effect of climbing lane on the freeway setting system, set by demonstratingclimbing lane rationality and effectiveness of the climbing lane set reference andguidance role in ensuring that the climbing lane set up scientific and rational, and thusimprove freeway capacity, level of service and the level of traffic safety.The climbing road traffic characteristics analysis and simulation model. In thispaper, the vehicle classification method based on the climbing section capacityanalysis, and to determine a vehicle conversion coefficient; then analyzes theoperating characteristics of the climbing sections on small cars and large cars as wellas the impact of traffic flow; through the climbing lane set conditions set effectanalysis of technical analysis, leads to the cellular automaton model; then introducesthe basic principles of cellular automata and common traffic flow cellular automatonmodel; on the basis of the original model, characteristics for climbing sections, theintroduction of the longitudinal slope with a large car and leave probability andprobability of vehicles in slowing down the introduction of the running speed, lanechanging conditions established the climbing road traffic flow cellular automatonmodel.Road and traffic conditions affect the capacity of the climbing sections. Firstintroduced the concept of capacity and level of service; followed by analysis of theinfluencing factors of the climbing section capacity based on cellular automatamodels of the climbing road traffic flow, the use of Matlab software simulation ofvehicle traffic flow conditions on the climbing sections according to the results of computer simulation, the number of lanes, slope, slope length, traffic volume, speed,carts mixing rate of six factors on the capacity of the climbing sections.The climbing lane settings effectiveness analysis. First define the concept ofclimbing lane to set effect, additional climbing lane traffic flow conditions accordingto the modified climbing sections traffic flow cellular automaton model for the sameroad and traffic conditions, simulation, according to the simulation results, thecreation of three-lane one-way and two-lane one-way effect after a climbing lane, aswell as a comparative analysis of the both, and gives some recommendations onfreeway design.
