Under thebackground of rapid development, the city construction have increasing influence on theancient city site, the contradiction is increasingly outstanding. At the present stage, peopleshave been fully aware of the importance of the site, and to protect and display by the ruinspark mode. However, the protection and the development of the surrounding environment isexcessive use of attitude. Great site and its surrounding environment record the process ofhuman history and culture. It has very important significance which should be the overallprotection of sites and the surrounding environment for realizing the site protection, citydevelopment and the improvement of people’s livelihood in harmony.Taking Xi’an Tang Daming Palace Heritage conservation practice as an example, using"from theory to practice" research method, the paper tries to seek for the protection ideas andapproaches of sustainable development of great site surrounding environmental.On the theoretical research, the paper analyses the problems and causes in city ruinssurrounding environment by the related basic research on relationship between the great siteof city and the surrounding environment.On the case study, the paper analyses the excellent case at home and abroad, pointed outthe guiding ideology and based on surrounding environment protection, symbiosis theory andsustainable development theory, puts forward the specific countermeasures of protection.On the example study, aiming at the development of Daming Palace Ruins areadelineation of the scope of the evolution, the paper analyses the construction status, socialeconomic structure, function composing, landscapes consisting and environment of theDaming Palace site area. Base on the theoretical research results, the paper put forward thefunction structure renewal, land layout adjustment, and construction of ecologicalenvironment in particular some countermeasures. Overall protection strategy is proposed to set off from a macro level, through rationalplanning and guidance, the big site surrounding environment into the modern society, toendow them with new, after adjustment function, realize the great site of the most effectiveprotection, improve the urban social, environment, drive the overall development of the city.
