This project is a cooperate project to do together with one company. The purpose is thata portable real-time image acquisition and display system is designed used in the militaryvehicles for the company. The designed system will be installed on armored vehicles, theperson can see the image from the LCD screen in the cab of the vehicle, and observ and detectthe outside of the vehicle in the vehicle.This paper describes a real-time image acquisition and display system. The digitalcamera of Camera Link interface is used for image acquisition devices. The programmablelogic device FPGA is used for core controller and the external memory SDRAM is used fortemporary storage. Firstly, the Camera Link Interface standard is described in detail, thesystem is divided into several modules according to the respective functions, the chipselected, hardware circuit design and PCB printed circuit board design are described verydetailed. In the software part, the hardware description language VerilogHDL as theprogramming language and the Quartus Ⅱ12.0as development platform to program for theFPGA and realize the control of various functional modules by the system.The purpose of expected has been achiveved by the design of the system in this paper,the system can acquire and display images in real time and the images no splash screen andinterference fringes. The serial232communication interface is designed in the system, so thecamera and the PC can communicate with each other and the camera can be configured. Thesuccessfully developed of the system, laid the foundation on the developed of the real-timeimage processing system based on FPGA and DSP and has a great reference value for theresearch and developmet of the similar system.
