The Research Of Field Naming Rules And Properties For Transportation Information Database And Drafting The Standard

In the process of the development of traffic informatization, standards areimportant methods to ensure that the information system can realize informationsharing, avoid the repeated construction, and improve investment benefit. The fieldname is the primary identification of data. Traffic information data elements define fora definition of the data, but not provide the field names. This situation makesdesigning a database which follows standards, exchanging and sharing data difficult.Therefore, it is necessary to design a unified standard for data element field names andrecommend the attribute of data element.Firstly, through the research in traditional method of naming variable, generaldatabase field naming rules and programming language naming rules, combined withthe characteristics of transportation information, it is designed that two transportationinformation database field naming method. The one method of field naming is basedon Chinese phonetic abbreviations, which contain the abbreviation of data elementfields, standards arena code of data element and data element name in Chinese pinyininitials. Another method of field naming is based on the on English name abbreviations,which makes the first method of Chinese name abbreviation be replaced by the method ofEnglish name abbreviations.Second, through the research in common database (such as Oracle, SQL Server,DB2and other) field properties, combined with the provision of transportation dataelement standard, it is recommended that the transportation information database fieldattributes. The main recommendation of field types including not limited long text,numeric, date(representing the year, year month, year month day)and time(year monthday hour minutes, hour minutes seconds, hours minutes), the binary data and othercommon fields.Finally, the auto-naming software of transportation information database fields isdesigned and implemented, which has been tested. The software is mainly composed of naming Chinese field, naming English field, naming Chinese or English field afterimport excel and export data after name field.
