| Nowadays, the performance of old cement concrete pavement get worse, and thecomposite pavements become a useful method to enhance cement concrete pavement. Atthe same time, there are various techniques and treatments to control reflection cracking,however, the cost-effectiveness and performance of these methods had not been reliablyevaluated. To ensure successful control of this distress and effective allocation ofmaintenance funds, there is a critical need to assess the performance of pavement sectionsacross the state built with various treatment methods and to determine the most economictechniques to delay or to prevent reflection cracking. The objective of this study is toevaluate and compare different reflection cracking control treatments by life cycle costanalyze.By introducing life cycle cost calculation method, the calculating model isestablished, including early construction costs, maintenance costs, user costs, andresidual value. And this model is used to evaluate the economic performance ofXiajiaying to fenyang. Four common programs, geotextile, fiberglass grille, STRATA,chip seal and no layer were compared. According to the result, the life-cycle costs ofgeotextile and STRATA are far lower than the other three,which is half of the others.The road performance with no layer declines quickly. Therefore, geotextile or STRATAfor overlay is recommended to the reforming of Xiafen highway.According to life-cycle cost, it is found user cost is so huge that accounting for70%of the total cost, and becoming the biggest economic factors. So choosing theprogram with less repairing time is very important. |
