With the rapid development of national transportation, the construction programs isgradually from the eastern plain area into the mountains and waters where the condition ismore complex, especially the development of urban underground traffic engineering and theutilization of underground space, the construction of the high-level highway in mountainousarea and so on. Therefore, higher demands are put forward in aspects as the quantity, qualityand difficulty of the tunnel. In order to effectively improve the efficiency of supervision, howto use the video surveillance technology to implement real-time, intelligence and remotemonitoring on the tunnel construction is becoming an inevitable trend in the future research.On the basis of the Taigu highway Xishan tunnel engineering, after studying the existingIntelligent Video Surveillance System (IVSS), the IVSS which is based on OpenCV imageprocessing technology is designed and developed in this paper. Specifically, by analyzing thefunctional requirement of the Intelligent Video Surveillance System, the hardware scheme andthe software scheme of the system is designed respectively, and the hardware platform whichis the system needed is constructed according to the designed scheme, thereby implements thevideo and image acquisition and the monitoring of the construction site.The core part of this design is the image processing based on the OpenCV in order todetect, identify, track the construction vehicles in the video, as well as judge the status ofvehicles’ in or out and count the number. And the target images are saved for the later using.The core part mainly consists of three modules such as video image preprocessing,construction vehicles’ foreground detection module and the construction vehicles’ trackingmodule. The author developed a Web-based data management system which is based on theB/S frame. The system develops on the basis of Visual Studio.2005and uses SQL Server2005as the backend database system, implementing the video display, data query, data analysis andother functions.The practical application in Xi-Shan tunnel shows that the system can realize theintelligent surveillance, monitoring the construction process, recognizing and trackingconstruction vehicles. In addition, the system can be operated via network. And the practicalapplication verifies the reasonably of plan and design. The system has been achieved the desired purpose.
