Modern China, rise and fall, there who always insisted,was a powerful heart. In aturbulent society, economy, culture, urban development were filled with competition andcooperation, as well as compromises and conflicts. But it was in the nodes of the change ofthe times, studying modern China, that is, understanding of today’s China nd what we do isthat the increasingly attention. Chinese Modern Architecture was an important part ofChina’s modern history, the church building was a typical representative which were thereflection of modern Chinese complexity. In this thesis, we try to study the GuangzhouModern Church Secondary School building as a research object, contact with the relevantdisciplines, use the view of architecture, the literature mining, the field research and otherresearch methods, honest and comprehensive to exposition and analysis about the planning,design, evolution, characteristics, showing the historical value of the Modern ChurchSecondary School building, to explore their inner spiritual and cultural connotation, designlogical relationship, summary the design law of the social and cultural impact architectural. Inthe last, to make concrete proposals about the protection and utilization of historic buildingsin Guangzhou Church Secondary School.Around specific subjects, namely "Modern Missionary Secondary School building,according to the deduce relationship between time and space, the text of which is dividedinto three parts:Modern Section, including the second chapter to chapter4, respectively, for theGuangzhou Modern Church Secondary School Building Overview, the Modern Missionarysecondary campus planning as well as the Modern Church school building design. A generalpart which is the departure from the background of macro modern Chinese history. Thedescription of the history of modern China church building conditions is for the betterunderstand of the rise to the decline of the Guangzhou Modern Church Secondary School, Atthe same time for the understanding of the intrinsic historical,cultural logic relationship andit’s rich history value Then, in the paper, chapter3and4which, use the methods of analysis of the architecture, summary and summarized in the Modern Missionary secondary campusplanning and architectural design features, same time, on this basis, derived from the systemtheoretical point of view of the, such as in chapter3, the planning and development of themodern missionary high school campus in ideal state, the trend of diversity of the evolutionof the architectural form in chapter4.The Modern part of the paper, is that about the historical evolution, in Chapter5, andthere are four section, including a description of the development status of the ModernChurch Secondary School, from the stagnation of development to the praise of the modernrevival, analyzing its campus planning, architectural design and the historical evolution,summed up the characteristics. Such as education experimental cell,mutation campusplanning, the embedded space form, modern combination of campus space environment, awide range of design techniques, and finally comes down to the evolution of the commonrole of the secular and scientific.The final chapter is about the protection and the reuse of historic buildings. Combiningwith the previous content to recognize that the protection significance and advantages ofGuangzhou Modern Church Secondary historic and built heritage. Through research andsurveys to understand the preservation and Restoration of the existing remains, but alsoproposed the sustainable construction and development recommendations to theGuangzhou secondary school campus which has a history of accumulation.Throughout the text, I expect that after the depth mining research of GuangzhouModern Church Secondary School building, I can accomplish something in the architecturalsense, but also in the history, sociology and cultural values. By the full interpretation of thestudy object from modern to today, trying to get a better understanding of the culturalphenomenon of design which is reflected in the architectural in contemporary Chinesesociety.
