With the rapid development of power industry in our country, there are still someweaknesses of meter reading ways in the practice. Now, the study of the AutomaticMeter Reading System(AMR) which takes the low-power line as the media incommunication focus on channel characteristic. Though, some documents discussabout routing technology of low-power line communication (L-PLC) automatic meterreading system, but it need to go further.G3is applied to L-PLC in this paper, the study about the design of PLCcommunication board and the6LoWPAN routing mechanism is the primaryfocus.Firstly, the research background, the current status of L-PLC AMR and thetechnical characteristics of G3-PLC are introduced.Secondly, according to the aim ofsystem design, this paper provides the whole design architecture from the hardwareand software of G3-PLC modules.Thirdly,a strategy based on6LoWPAN and a newrouting algorithm which applied to it are proposed. In the end,the routing strategy istested, and completes the communication under the routing strategy. The G3-PLC routing strategy designed in this paper, whose network topology isMesh, can communicate between nodes, and the nodes of this system can act as relaywhich consequently increasing the flexibility of the network; The routing strategy isbased on6LoWPAN Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector Routing(LOAD),and it canchoose the best path by updating the routing cost according to current status.Theresult of the test shows that the routing strategy is suitable to the practical conditionof medium voltage distribution networks in our country, and has wide applicationprospect.
