The present study aims at giving a detailed account of green design, analyzing variousreasons for feasiblility of green design and finding out a simple, convinient and effectiveway. The study considers“Window”as the focus and sally port of architecture energysaving, pursues green design of passivity and economic feasability and finally contributesto the the ecological environment in China.Green design is a concept of broad meanings, emphasizing the design exerting theleast effects on the environment. It has these specific principles: Respect, Reuse, Recyle,Renew, Reduce and Remember. These inseparable principles form a perfect concept ofgreen design from ideas to actions. Over these years, some architects, such as Thomas,Herzog, Yang Jingwen, Nowman, Foster, Richard, Rogers, have designed a series ofexplorative and representative ecological architectures which provided experience andinspiration. Architects more or less make a use of some ecological measures in theirdesigns in which the contribution to sustainable development is a vital part of the designconcept. However, as far as the school of high tech, such as Forster and实施Rogers, isconcerned, their ecological architectures cost too much in construction and conservation. But through their prescious experience we are in the search of touchable approach to greendesign. In the Report to the Seventeenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China,Hu Jintao points out: Improve energy, resources, ecological and environmentalconservation and enhance China’s capacity for sustainable development. At present, theeco-based architectures are few in China. Instead, we are exhausted by the pursue andexploration of architecture’s forms. A large amount of analysis shows that half ofgreenhouse effect gas comes from the energy consumption in the production andtransportation of the building materials and the construction and operation of the buildings. Therefore the urgent issues are architecture energy saving and environment protection.Through the analysis of the feasibility of reducing the architecture energy, window asan opening part of an enclosure outside the building is the intersection and focus of lighting, aeration, heat preservation, sound insulation and vision and is also one of thecommonest parts in the building. Therefore, windon is the important breakthrough point ofimproving interior light, heat and sound environments and energy saving. The focus of the present study is to analyze the ways to architecture energy saving bywindows and to shed light on the feasibility of green design. The design takes intoaccounts of natural lighting, climatic environment, the newest evaluation approach of LT(lighting and thermal) and self-constructed energy saving design with the help of theevaluation of building materials. In order to achieve the purpose of the energy saving, it isnecessary to improve window’s heat preservation, heat insulation and air tightness anddecrease the energy of building heating, air-conditioning, and dehumidifying. The study on feasibility is based on the practical examples. It conludes the feasibilityof green design and problems of the building in existence by analyzing and evaluating thedesign cases and puts forward some suggestions on improvement of its futuredevelopment. The belief and action of the continuous practice of green ecological and sustainabledesign ensure us that sustainable development is concrete and operable and is theconsequence of pursueing the unitary and integrative benefits and it is the responsibility ofarchitects and one of the essential starts in the career of building design.
