This paper is based on ultra short baseline positioning system, developing an underwateracoustic transponder with positioning, response, data storage and other functions. The maincontent of this paper is design of hardware and software for the ultra short baseline acoustictransponder electronics section and data acquisition&storage system.This paper presents the application of ultra short baseline acoustic transponder andanalyzes the characteristics of the main products at home and abroad. This paper states theprinciple of ultra short baseline positioning system. The rapid sliding correlation andcorrelation peak envelope detection algorithms of digital signal processing using inlocalization and detection are discussed. In this paper, the underwater acoustic transpondercan detect and process signals in real time, besides, it can transmit positioning responsesignals. Data acquisition&storage system saves the collected waveform data with dat fileformat.The hardware design is based on the OMAP-L138chip of TI company as the core of thedigital processing circuit and the TMS320VC5509A chip as the core of the data acquisitioncircuit. This paper explains the software design of underwater acoustic transponder system,completes the A/D signal acquisition, OMAP-L138EDMA3and other related on-chipperipherals driving, the CF card driving controlled by DSP5509and the establishment ofFAT32file system.Finally, comprehensive tests are undertaken to the designed system of the ultra-shortbaseline acoustic transponder, Such as the signal acquisition test, signal real-time detectiontest and data storage test. It proves that this paper reaches the indexes of the software andhardware design and fulfills the transponder demanding function.
