In recent years, the rapid and steady development of freeways has played a significant role inthe growth of domestic economy. However, with the increasing number of cars, the safety infreeways has been a more sharp issue. As a pivotal measure that can prevent and reduce accidents,the evaluation and administering of freeway safety could efficiently nip the latent danger in the bud,and lessen the loss of people and fortune to the greatest degree.Huihe freeway has witnessed a raisein traffic accidents since December,2003. To further improve the safety and service level, it isnecessary to monitor the construction of the infrastructure of Huihe freeway.Apart from that, it is also of great importance to analyze current situations of Huihe freewayscientifically, objectively, and reasonably, so that the hidden unsafe factors could be discovered andaccidents avoided.Based on the practical needs of Huihe freeway construction, this paper has probedinto traffic-affecting elements, conducting comprehensive investigations about the current situationof Huihe freeway, including routes, roadbeds, road substructures, bridges, overpasses and so on.With solid data, this paper has undertaken a systematical evaluation of Huihe freeway safety.Aiming at existed problems, this thesis has also proposed improvement measurements and advice.The application of these measures to the administration of Huihe freeway safety has yieldedprominent results, providing full technical support to the enhancement in Huihe freeway safety.
