Air target which is a kind of simulation system of the air threat target is an important branch of targets. Air target system is used all through the research of various air defense weapon systems and military training. Developing new air targets has the vital significance to the development of national defense. Developable structure which can fold and unfold freely shows a brand new application prospect. These structures have a great potential for application in ground and space. In recent years they are more and more widely applied in the field of building structure, military engineering, and space space, etc. After the analysis of advantages and disadvantages of active service targets, a deployable simple air target is designed in this paper based on the unique advantages of developable structure. The structure is portable, flexibility and economy.First, on the basis of broad access to domestic and foreign related literature and data, the importance of air target research are summarized. Then, the development, characteristics and research status of target system and deployable structure are introduced according to their classifications. The conception of developable air target is put forward.Concept design system design method is used to design the air target structure on its functional decomposition, scheme comparison and structure design. The difficulty is the realization of the automatic unlocked function and linkage function. A simple model wsa made to preliminarily inspect the scheme. The experience and the existing problems wre summarized, and then we optimized the structure scheme and the detail design, completed an empty target principle prototype manufacture. The production process and matters needing attention were detailed summarized. These work provides a good reference for the develop of air target to finalize the design.The experiment of simulated air target release is carried out and the experimental results show that the structure has a good deployability and can verify that all parts of the structure work harmonically, and that the automatic control device and driver were set reasonably and effectively; The basic theory and concrete operation process of non-contact photogrammetry is introduced and the deployment process is measured. The motion parameters we got provide a experimental reference for further design study.Finally, dynamic analysis of the air target structure is carried out. Using finite element analysis software on the free modal analysis, the first seven order natural frequency and vibration mode of the structure is extracted; The deployment simulation of the structure is analyzed, simplified considering the influence of the initial velocity to the deployment process.
