Mechanical servo control technology, which be used for the beam direction controller of APT for space laser communication system, has a low bandwidth, it’s not be able to satisfy the actual demand, so we have to find a non mechanical servo control technology that has a higher bandwidth than mechanical servo control technology for replacing. The acousto-optic deflector as a rapidly developing mechanical servo beam direction controller, more and more people pay attention to its bandwidth advantage, and the relevant scientific researchers are also working to combine it with APT system.This article briefly describes the working principle of the acousto-optic deflector, we have established the mathematical model of APT tracking unit after acousto-optic deflector mathematical model be established. Proved that acousto-optic deflector in the APT system has a high bandwidth through simulation. In the paper, we do some simulation analysis (about excitation signal response, inhibit the disturbance, tracking performance and residual, etc.) in order to validate the non mechanical servo control technology that based on acousto-optic modulator in the APT unit of space laser communication system has better tracking characteristics, and we obtain the desired results.Although, we only do some simulation research about non mechanical servo control technology based on acousto-optic modulation, but the results are satisfactory. And it has played a key guiding role for the actual system building and practical application.
