As a new mode of transportation rising in recent decades, slurry pipeline transportationshowed many advantages consisting of less investment、less occupying、low operatingcosts、high reliability etc, and became the fifth major modes of transportation after therailway, highway, water carriage and air transportation. with the serious shortage ofrailway and highway transportation’s capacity in our country, and the reality of China’smetal and non-metallic mineral resources mostly distributing in mountain and hilly area,The positive development of long distance and high concentration slurry pipelinetransportation technology can solve our current transportation tension, promote thedevelopment of mining industry, and bring the enormous social and economic benefits.This paper bases on previous research results, elaborates materials’ and slurry’s basicphysical properties such as density、specific gravity、concentration, analyzes the relatedproperties of slurry including the motion of solid particles in the water, slurry flow in thepipe type, two phase flow characteristics of slurry and slurry friction loss etc, and analyzesthe classification of water hammer from different angles.On the basis of expounding the material property of the slurry pipeline transportation,this paper bases on the experimental determination of the grain composition and pulpdensity, the proportion of different concentrations of tail slurry settlement of static in20km iron tailings pipeline transportation, and by using the determination results combiningwith the above formula to calculate other parameters. Bases on the determination data ofpulp settlement of static, makes static settlement curve of different concentrations of tailslurry. According to the given data scale, the elevation difference and so on, calculate theconcentration of two kinds of the project being conveyed in the pipe flow rate andconveying velocity, friction loss, sexual selection pump, determine the pipe material andthe pipe wall thickness, finally determine the project delivery plan.At the last, this paper researches a factor----water hammer which influent the safeoperation of pipeline, put forward the interactive relationship between water hammer andpipeline, research the water hammer protection from two aspects of classification of waterhammer and pipeline vibration.
