Based anti roll bar system used in railway vehicles as the researchobject, focuses on material properties of the critical component that is antiroll bar, for several kinds of metal materials commonly used adopteddifferent heat treatment process and performance test, investigated thebest heat treatment process of anti roll bar, and determined the bestmaterial by fatigue performance test,finally used two kinds of meansabout simulation analysis and testing to confirm that the selected anti rollbar material is excellent in the overall system performance, the researchcontents are as follows:1.By reading a large number of literature, the types and function ofanti roll anti roll bar used in railway vehicles were reviewed in this paper,the anti roll bar material performance test methods and evaluationmethods were introduced, and emphasized on the importance of fatigueperformance for the anti roll bar material.2. Study on hardenability of four kinds of materials that are42CrMo,50CrVE,51CrV4and52CrMoV4was carried. Conclusion showed thatthe hardness decline of51CrV4and52CrMoV4was relatively flat, thesetwo kinds of materials had higher hardenability, followed by50CrVE,hardenability of42CrMo is the worst.3. Due to the better hardenability of several subjects, chose the sametemperature870℃quenching. For50CrVE, tempering heat treatmentwas applied according to350℃,400℃and400℃; for51CrV4and52CrMoV4,tempering heat treatment was respectively applied accordingto320℃,380℃,420℃,460℃and500℃. The results indicatedthat: for50CrVE,the best heat treatment process was870℃quenching,400℃tempering, for51CrV4and52CrMoV4, the best heat treatmentprocess was870℃quenching,420℃tempering.4. Core surface hardness testing, mechanical testing andmetallographic observation were made for50CrVE、51CrV4and52CrMoV4after different tempering treatment. Conclusion showed thatthe three kinds of materials with the increase of tempering temperature,the surface hardness decreased from outside to inside.Overall hardness of 51CrV4and52CrMoV4were higher than50CrVE. The tensile strengthand yield strength of three kinds of materials decreased, plastic toughnessincreased with the increase of tempering temperature, the strength valueof51CrV4and52CrMoV4was higher than50CrVE. From the point ofmicrostructure,51CrV4and52CrMoV4got evenly tempered troostite,50CrVE got relatively thick tempered troostite, also appeared morebainite. Results showed comprehensive performance of51CrV4and52CrMoV4could be optimal.5.Anti roll bar under tensional force for a long time, also under partof the bending force at the same time, according to its working conditionfatigue tests were carried out for51CrV4and52CrMoV4that had a betterstatic comprehensive performance. Results showed that the fatigue limitof two kinds of materials were the same that could reach410MPa. FromS-N curve slash part of slope in different point of view, under thecondition of applying the same torque, fatigue cycle number of52CrMoV4was more than51CrV4, the fatigue performance for thefuture research had certain guiding significance.6. Using two kinds of means about testing and finite elementsimulation analysis to reflect the research object in the anti roll barsystem exothermic excellent performance. Test methods mainly againstthe stiffness test, the elastic test and the fatigue test of overall system ofanti roll bar. Finite element simulation analysis is refers to ABAQUSfinite element analysis that carried out on the whole system, especiallyusd Fe-safe again for52CrMoV4fatigue life assessment. Results showedthat52CrMoV4completely met the use requirements, the research has agreat sense of engineering significance.
