With the continuous reinforce in the infrastructure constructions in our country, moreand more highways have been built up, especially those located in mountain areas developsrapidly. However, as the geological environment is very complex in mountain areas, somesections that needs high landfill or deep excavation are very common in the construction ofsuch highways, and due to the engineering properties and compact ability of road base fillingsand the external conditions such as exterior loads and rains, ect, so the slope stabilityproblems inevitably arise. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the deformation failure andstability of the high filled subgrade.Pure theory cannot meet the demands of calculation analysis and evaluations for theslope stability problems of high filled subgrade. Comprehensive analysis method ofcomputing theory combined with the field observation data should be adopted here, enablingus to have more clear perspectives about the deformation and failure process of the highembankment and deepen our understanding of the stability and the situation of failuredevelopment of fill projects. After the collection and arrangement of the relevant literatures, mud rocks wereidentified and classified, and various factors that impact the slope stability of high filledsubgrade were summarized and analyzed, the law of stability and safety factor under theconsideration of rains were studied, and its deformation and failure mechanism were analyzed. The method to analyze the slope stability was discussed, the instability failure occurred in theK280section of Changji expressway were analyzed by the finite element method combinedwith the work-site monitoring data,Through the above theoretical and experimental research work,draw:1、Mudstone is a quite different physical and mechanical property, undisturbed structureinherent structural surface and cracks, but are in the closed state, the density is higher, becauseexcavation disturbed overburden pressure and other reasons its reduced, closed fractureaperture to become a good channel rainwater into the rock in rainfall conditions, rainwaterinfiltration greatly reduces the strength of the mudstone.2、Mudstone is a weak fractured and swelling, cohesion disabled features, making morevulnerable to disturbance and change its initial stress state can not effectively resist theexternal complex environment, but also for unloading loose or caused by the disturbance ofengineering construction extremely sensitive.3、Slope instability failure occurs depends largely on rainfall incentives, especially underthe conditions of continuous heavy rainfall greater role for slope failure. These basic conclusions, deformation and failure has occurred in the mountains high fillembankment slope measures to deal with the design and construction to provide sometheoretical reference.
