With the rapid development of the electronic engineering around the world in recentyears, underwater signal and signal applied in other fields is becoming more and morecomplex,as a result the signal generator of any waveform plays a important role in electronicresearch and development and is becoming one of the indispensable instruments. Thetraditional waveform generator is usually of big size, expensive and large power consumptionthat is unsuitable for some particular environments. This dissertation make someimprovements with respect to these defects and a novel portable、high sampling rates、largecapacity、low power consumption and cheap signal generator is developed.A signal generator of any waveform is described and designed in the paper, andwaveform data is exported by the software programming in the computer. In practice thewaveform data needed to be stored by large-capacity storage device firstly. Then only bydesired operation on the touchpad to control the output of waveform, we can make the signalgenerator to play、stop、pause、file-selecting etc.In the specific design and implementation process, S3C2440based on ARM9kernelproduced by Samsung cooperation is worked as the main control chip. MicroC/OS-IIoperating system is transplanted for multi-task management. μ C/GUI is transplanted tocontrol the output by the touchpad.2GByte SD card is chosen as data storage device, coupledwith FatFs file management system. FPGA is used for precise timing control and the DAconverter, then processing the signal by DA converter and low pass filter. Multi-task isworked coordinately and achieves some specific function by the corresponding sub-functionsunder the operation system in the software implementation.Finally the output signal produced by signal generator is measured and analyze, andspecific indicator of designed instrument are listed to show the advantage over other similardevelopments by analyzing the design method. The experiment results have reached theexpectation, and owns some advantages especially in circumstances of high-capacity、highsampling rate and it is very portable, and can be used as accurate and stable signal source inparticular applications.
