Research On Urban Human Settlement Types And Space Pattern Changes At Community-Sscale

Along with accelerated China’s urbanization and social stratification, the city’s spacepattern is constantly changing, renewing and differentiating. The urban human settlement hasthus experienced spatial processes from simple kind of human settlement to complex types.In this study, choosing199typical residential districts in Shahekou District, Dalian cityof Liaoning province, China; establishing the Habitat index system based on five subsystemsof human settlements: Natural subsystem, individual subsystem, living subsystem, supportsubsystem, social subsystem; and using Dalian City Land and Housing Bureau statistics,questionnaires and interviews data, ARCGIS buffer analysis data to do factor analysis,principal component analysis and cluster analysis for getting the Shahekou Habitat settlementType; and through ARCGIS visualization, the spatial and temporal evolution of the differentkinds of human settlement in Shahekou District are discussed.These results revealed that:(1) major factors under consideration for the components of human settlement inShahekou District, Dalian City include①living quality,②neighborhood③naturalenvironment,④life convenient degree,⑤light rail transit, and⑥education and medical.(2) through the cluster analysis, The human settlement of the Shahekou District isdivided into five urban human settlement types, namely,①the first type of humansettlement,salaried employee and retiree living area,②the second type, as local rich andwealthy businessman living area,③the third type, the state-owned business units, inhabitedin welfare housing,④the forth type, cadres, university teachers, foreign private businessowners, senior management live in it,⑤the fifth type: Middle-class neighborhoods.(3) Shahekou District human settlement spatial structure mode. the southern coast ofShahekou District is the second human settlement type for the rich; the east of Xi’an Road andPeace Plaza are belonged to the high-income people human settlement type; the rest of theeastern region and the central region are the human settlement for the middle class people; thenorth of Shahekou District are the working-class, retirees human settlement; the Malan andHeishijiao are the mixed Fracture Zone. (4) Shahekou District existing residential areas can be divided into four groups: Prior to1998, from1998to2003, from2004to2007,2008to the present. The real estate in ShahekouDistrict has experienced four stages,,to wit, scarcity in housing, developing in housing,investment in housing, speculation in housing. Shahekou District’s urban human settlementshave evolved from the first type, the third type to the fifth type, and then, the fourth and fifthtypes coexist, finally to the second and fourth type.(5) Various subsystems of urban living environment coordinated each other in thefunction through the interactions between the bodies (human and social systems) and theobjects (natural,living,support systems). Thus,the integration with each other is achieved andultimately a variety of complex urban living environment is formed, that is, urban livingenvironment type landscape.
