Public art is a kind of art form with social public as the kernel of its value, various forms of medium as its carrier, and the urban public environment and public facilities as its target. It has a very high artistic value, the more important cultural value is "publicity"."Publicity" is not only the premise of public art, but also its core content. This thesis, through the research on "implementation method of the urban public art’s ’publicity’", aims to explore and reveal the underlying social and cultural values of the contemporary urban public art, and provides reference value for the development of Chinese contemporary public art.This thesis is based on the objective needs of the development of Chinese contemporary urbanization and diachronic, publicity, symbiotic and openness strategy of public art publicity implementation to carry out research. For the phenomenon of missing on Chinese contemporary urban public art publicity, using literature review, research contrast, interdisciplinary and combining theory with practice research methods, combining a large number of classic case at home and abroad, the thesis systematically summarizes and theoretically analyses around the implementation method of public art publicity. Clearly put forward six guiding methods on the implementation method of public art publicity, which are planning--making scientific and perfect the urban public art special planning, publicity--making the public view prior to the personal view of artist, participation--emphasizing on public participation, scale-dealing with the scaling relations between the public art and the surrounding factors correctly, motivation--triggering the resonance and interaction of the public, variety--combining traditional form with new form, in order to carry urban cultural characteristics, cultivate public spirit of the nation, passing social and human care and shape the city brand image. Finally, taking the construction of several public art projects I have been involved in Zhuzhou City as examples, the thesis generalizes and analyzes principles and methods by practical cases.This thesis provides theoretical basis in macro and strategic value guidance for the implementation method of public art publicity, making the Social ideals and cultural ideas of the public art under the social reality to be clear, so as to promote the theory construction and the practice on China’s public art from sensual aesthetic stage towards the mature stage of the cultural and social rationality.
