Our country is currently one of the world’s fastest growing urban rail transitcountries. Since October1,1969, when China’s first subway line-Beijing metro line1opened to traffic, especially since the reform and opening policy, China’s economichas been developed at a rapid speed, and the urban traffic demand has as welldramatically increased, which promotes China’s urban rail transit to enter a rapiddevelopment phase. With the spreading of "people-based" service conception invarious fields, urban rail transit operations management philosophy has changed fromthe vehicle-centric model to the passenger-centric model. The development ofpassenger information systems conforms to this demand.Since the application of passenger information system, its programs, integratingtechnology and business model have always been improving with the development ofcomputer technology, network technology and multimedia technology. Based on this,according to the actual situation of existing lines and the development of relatedtechnologies, this paper mainly discussed the passenger information system’s keytechnologies relates to the multimedia management, messaging, scheduling,construction and operation of network, and other aspects. The main contents include:1, Based on the development and trend analysis of current domestic and overseasurban rail transit passenger information system, the demand for passenger informationsystem functions and the overall system architecture were identifies, and the presentconstruction situation and development trend of the major domestic and overseasurban rail transit passenger information systems were analyzed. Besides, the researchhotspots were summed up.2, According to characteristics and actual applications of multimedia information,the functions and application forms of various media were identified, and the mainly research focused on its corresponding management and application technologies inthe passenger information system.3, Based on message scheduling features of the urban rail transit passengerinformation system, scheduling process and realization of the actual message wereanalyzed, and mainly discussed how to achieve fast and accurate scheduling.4, According to the network construction and operational trends of future urbanrail transit passenger information system, mainly researched multimediasynchronization technology and synchronized multimedia integration language ofinternational standard, so that a consistent description can be achieved in differentmanufacturers.
