| Belt conveyors have experienced dramatic change from its birth to the widely utilization in current days. With the appearance of longer and wider belt, as well as larger capacities, and higher speed, belt conveyors have become major transportation equipments among many industries because of its flexibility and low cost, especially in the transportation of bulk materials.In this paper, a way to solve the similar problem in the practical engineering is brought forward, which is that the design of belt conveyors at turning sections is always achieved by the intermediate transfer, according to the terrain change. The existence of intermediate transfer may cause series of problems, such as one more transfer, there will be not only one more transfer height, but also get the material crushed again with dust and noise. Therefore, one more unloading equipment and drive equipment are needed. But if there is a bending belt conveyor which can convey material along a curved route despite terrain changes, the intermediate transfer can be removed and all the problems mentioned above can be resolved. The belt of the conveyor is a kind of flexible carrier. Even if there are some turnings, we can take some measures to make the material to turn smoothly along with the belt. Therefore, the core of this paper is to explore how to design horizontal bending conveyor.In the design of bending section, there are some factors we should take into account, including the research on curvature radius of bending section, supporting roller arrangement and bending resistance analysis. Through the stress analysis of adhesive tape’s centripetal force, the materials and the tape; under the condition that neither is the belt reversed, deviated nor is the material dropped when the material is conveyed at the bending section. Meanwhile, we can figure out the curvature radius of the bend section.The design of a horizontal curve conveyor belt is so important, not only for large-scale coal mining, logistics distribution centers, but also for the application of belt conveyor in all walks of life. The application of a bending conveyor is both economical and environmental friendly. Therefore, it is imperative that the curve belt conveyor with relative natural turning/bending property will be the trend of the conveyor’s applications development and design. |
