In recent years, the international cargo transported in the transport sector’s development has two distinct characteristics:bulk technology and containerization. n surface transportation and terminal throughput share, coal, grain and other large cargo has accounted for a large proportion. Bulk transport in the water system occupies such an important position, but in the loading, unloading and other aspects, the technical level is still very weak. Therefore, raising the level of bulk cargo unloading technology has become an important research direction. Used to transport bulk materials or items of transport equipment shall be continuous transport machinery, mechanical screw conveyor is a continuous conveyor, screw unloaders high productivity variety of materials can be unloaded, simple structure, on the environment pollution, low cost, widely used in various sectors of national production.The vertical screw conveyor often goes into conveying particle upward. In this article, after studying the characteristic of scattered medium, it is to analysis vertical conveying mechanism of screw conveyor based on the medium mechanics and the theory of particle group movement. Starting from the motion analysis of scattered medium which inside the vertical screw conveyor, it studies movement features of scattered medium in screw conveyor, and analyses the stress that material suffered during conveying, aiming to arrive at the form of the free surface of the material formed by the different filling rate and boundary pressure distribution at different screw speed. According to the torque balance of the material, it creates a calculation model of the spiral resistance torque and parameter equation of movement characteristics, so as to determine the size and speed of the spiral, the drive power and productivity.In order to better achieve the calculation of complex mathematical model, this article make the use of the Visual Basic programming language design software to design the program that can calculate the mathematical model. So it can get data conveniently. And after processing and analyzing, it gets the variation of the main parameters that affect the vertical screw conveyor’s transfer efficiency.
