With the development of economic, energy is the most basic need of every country in the world. At present, energy problem is growing on a global scale, and many countries faced the serious shortage of energy. As a developing and big country, due to the large population, the energy problem in China will become more and more serious. For the better sustainable development, it should change the way of energy consumption fundamentally and utilize new energy actively. Most northern regions in China needed central heating for warmth in winter, if improve their heating way, energy consumption could be reduced greatly, and the goal of energy conservation and emissions reduction could be achieved. The heat exchange station is the core of the central heating system, so its research has important significance and value in practice.This paper is the actual project of Xinzhou city heating power company in Shanxi province, designed the heating network monitoring system for real-time monitoring of all heat exchange stations in the city, according to the requirement and practical situation. In paper, the control method of heat exchange station was analyzed firstly, based on the results of analysis the specific control scheme of project was created. With the actual requirements of project, MDCS intelligent components researched by Dalian Jiaotong university was adopted to control site actuators and collect data by configuration, and touch screen was used to do on-site control at the same time. VPN virtual network based on Internet network was selected in the communication network between the company and the heat exchange station, ensure the safety and efficiency of communication with monitoring center. The monitoring software designed by Fix7.0was installed in the monitoring center, for the remote monitoring to the heat exchange station. Xinzhou city heating network monitoring system could collect remote data and monitor the real-time running status of each heat exchange station via VPN virtual network to carry on management, scheduling and control to realize the unattended by this system all kinds of failure of system could be found timely to make the effective treatment, and figure out the wastage of the pipe network pipeline gas.
