Automatic Plant Start-up and Shut-down System (APS) is a unit at the highest level of control system. During the process of starting up and shutting down of the unit plant, APS accepts the signals from the closed-loop systems, such as modulating control system (MCS), digital electro-hydraulic control system (DEH), burner management system (BMS). And then it sends out control instructions to the function groups, function subgroups, devices of the closed-loop control systems which was mentioned above according to a whole set of APS logics. The logics include condition judgment, timing, computing and so on. Finally the starting up and shutting down of unit plant will be completed by the control system.The4#gas-fired boiler of a unit plant which is a large-volume multi-fuel co-firing boiler was discussed in this paper. Based on the APS logics of the exiting single-fuel firing unit, new APS control system was improved and optimized. The optimized control system was modeled and simulated by means of data mining and virtual DCS(Distributed Control Systems), and the key functions were designed and applied by the plant. The safety and reliability of the APS control system was proved, which can be taken as a reference for design and commissioning of similar domestic power units.
