The suitable construction strength is an important guarantee of city health, orderly, efficient operation. In city planning and management, the construction intensity control is often lack of rigidity due to a lack of scientific basis. The study on intensity is useful to scientifically set city construction strength, to efficient use of the city land and to achieve city "smart growth".The research object is the construction intensity law and its influencing factors. With theories instruction, adopting the comparative spatial analysis method, make the construction intensity influencing factor system. Taking Hangzhou city as a case for empirical analysis, forming a correction factor, provide a foundation support for Hangzhou city and a reference for other cities.Firstly, based on the city spatial form and theory, form the rational cognition. Second, analysis the general intensity distribution rule of the case city. Third, form the framework of macro, meso and micro influence factors system. Fourth, taking Hangzhou city as an empirical analysis, investigate respectively on each factor and construction strength, finally get the correction factor.Through the analysis and research above, the author gets the following conclusions and suggestions:1, City construction intensity zoning should first establish the factor analysis, the strength index setting should be combined with the status quo of impact factor.2, Urban areas of Hangzhou, the empirical analysis shows that, in the macro factors, population density, land price is positively correlated with the intensity of residential construction, and negatively correlated with the distance to the center of the city. In the intermediate factors, municipal business center, cultural facilities, stadiums, hospitals, railway traffic and the surrounding road such as the number of factors had significant effects on the construction strength. In the microcosmic factors, the scale of land and residential construction has a significant negative correlation between the intensity of nonlinear.
