The Exploitation Of The Korea Rail Pass And The Research Of Its International Outstretched Service Scheme

ABSTRACT:The revitalization of culture and tourism industry has become one of the effective ways to reinforce the national economy and improve the global positioning by enhancing the images of a country. Above many factors, the most important one to develop tourism into international stage is transportation. Transportation not only helps tourists to travel from place to place but also make them be able to experience abundant experiential activities. Moreover, it develops broad scale economic activities and tourism industry.Advanced countries in Europe and Japan were aware of the importance of transportation from the early stage and they have come up with various ways to help local and foreign visitors to have a comfortable transport. One of the alternatives is a transportation pass such as"Eurail pass". It has been specially designed for foreigners who are not so familiar with the local area. It helps those countries to see great result from promoting by providing not only convenience in traveling but also the information on tourist attractions.In this thesis, railway, which is one of the eco-friendly key industries for a country, will be discussed with railway pass by researching and analyzing factors and it will seek a better way of improving the Rail Pass, in operation railway pass in the Republic of Korea.To show the theoretical background for researching and developing the Rail Pass: First, this thesis provides background knowledge of tourism transportation, railway, and railway tourism for better understanding the basic concept.Second, this thesis provides success cases and current condition of railway pass from European Union (EU) and Japan to other countries such as United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Canada and United States. And to modify and develop the Rail Pass in Korea, this thesis also provides present condition and significant problems of railway pass which is for both local and foreigners.Last, this thesis provides the research for diversifying and specialization of the services of railway pass in Korea and revitalization plan, current global travel trend, and the possibility of researching and developing integration railway-ship pass by China, Korea and Japan three countries cooperating for overcoming the significant geographical disadvantage of the Republic of Korea, such as the disconnection to countries around and limited territory.
