The development of heavy haul transportation has become the major direction in the railway freightage domestically and internationally. However the longitudinal impact issues stand out as the increase of the train traction weight and marshaling length. The performance of heavy load vehicle longitudinal dynamics has been the key technical problem to solve the development of the heavy haul transportation.The draft gear is one of the key parts that affect heavy-duty train longitudinal dynamics performance. It’s of important practical engineering significance to improve performance of the heavy haul transportation by analyzing the relations the structure and impedance characteristics of overloading draft gear, researching the numerical description way of the draft gear’s dynamic characteristics.First the article analyzes the research situation and the methods of the numerical simulation of the buffer at home and aboard, to expound the working principle, structural characteristics and impedance characteristics of MT-2and HM-1draft gear, and the test principle and method of the performance test. Then describe the draft gear’s dynamic characteristics associated with the speed with the Piecewise nonlinear numerical method and contrast the performance of the two kinds of draft gear under different impact velocity, providing theory basis for the selection of the draft gear on different overloads.According to the technical specifications and standards of the vehicle impact test, based on the actual vehicle impact test conditions and test procedures, a one-to-one dynamics model was created. Using the Newmark algorithm and the simple iterative method, the vehicle impact test numerical simulation procedures was developed by the computer C language, to get the resistance and displacement varying with the time under different impact velocity, the results of simulation and actual experimental data were compared to verify the correctness of the new numerical model of the draft gear, so as to provide technical support for the design and application of the draft gear.
