Draft gear is one of the most major parts of locomotive&vehicle, its effect shown as follows:firstly it can absorb energies from train’s longitudinal impact and the excise of organized vehicle. Secondly the longitudinal impact and destroy to the vehicle structure and goods from the organizing excise are reduce the damage to goods is decreased.To achieve the yearly transport task perfectly, the travel speed and vehicular load are improved continually on the Datong-Qinhuangdao Line. At the same time, the train weight and the number of marshalling are increased as well. So, the requirements of bumper are needed to upgrade, due to the heavy intensity and high load when running. In other words, the volume and maximum load of Draft gear must be large enough to avoid the transportation incidents. The one with a good mechanical property and a performance of cyclic compression at low strain-TPEE, can meet the design requirements of bumper for the volume and impedance. Especially the TPEE works in terrible conditions, due to the excellence performance at the heat resistance, chemical resistance, weather resistance, aging resistance, etc. So, in conclusion, the existing macromolecule pad is replaced by the TPEE.This paper based on the problem of the running vehicle-HXD2.And it proposes a new design solution to solve this practical problem. This essay employs FEM software-ABAQUS as platform to simulate its force-taking condition by changing one dimension parameter or elastic modulus each time to evaluate the influence to the capacity of the draft gear. This conclusion can offer reference and guidance for the further research on this problem, and by this mean we get a group of optimized model. Then, we can select the desired draft gear from the group model after referencing related standard.At last, by comparing the simulation results with experimented data, to prove the reliability and accuracy of the simulation results.
