Ship industry is a comprehensive industry for the water traffic, ocean development and national defense construction as well as other industries providing technology and equipment.In order to meet the people on the ship power plant safety, reliability and convenience of the system operation requirements, the demand of constant velocity of non-centering universal joint is growing. Ship industry in our country is expected to become one of the most competitive industries in the world, so the constant velocity of non-centering universal joint will have broad market prospects.In this paper, the non-centering theory and the movement performances of the constant velocity of non-centering universal joint used in ship is studied. Firstly, the necessary and sufficient of non-centering theory about the constant velocity universal joint are proved after it is introduced. Because the model used has extensive representation when the theory is proved, so the theory itself also has broad application scope. Secondly, several typical constant velocity of non-centering universal joints are listed, including three ball pin universal joint, constant velocity of tripod slipping universal joint and constant velocity of tripod sliding universal joint are invented by our research group. Finally, the movement performances of the constant velocity of tripod sliding universal joint are analyzed carefully. The degree of freedom is1by analyzing, and the joint has certain movement.The orthogonal experiment design method and finite element analysis software are combined to study the constant velocity of non-centering universal joint used in ship. The joint’s equivalent stress obtained from finite element analysis are as test indicators, and the rotating speed, the material as well as the torque treat as test factors. Each of factors is taken three levels. The influence of rotating speed, material and torque on its performances are summarized, and the optimal scheme is drawn.Finite element analysis software is applied in order to study the constant velocity of non-centering universal joint used in ship, such as modal analysis and response spectrum analysis. The natural frequency of the joint is obtained by modal analysis being used to avoid resonance in the actual work. The joint’s displacement response, stress response, velocity response and acceleration response under certain incentives are obtained by response spectrum analysis. All of these can be theoretical basis for the joint’s study in further design.In conclusion, a series of analysis and research on constant velocity of non-centering universal joint used in ship provide theoretical basis for the joint’s application in the actual work and further study, which has realistic significance.
