The drive axle housing is the important carrying and passing component forheavy truck, it not only support the weights of vehicle but also transfer loads. In thispaper, one drive axle housing of heavy truck as an example,and find the main reasonfor the spring-seat crack and the big flange thread hole crack, through theoreticalanalysis and finite element simulation on the axle housing material properties,structure design and pressing process. On the other hand, the optimization measure isproposed.Firstly, the metallographic, tensile strength and elongation of axle housing areanalyzed, the pearlite content is higher. Then, using the ansys workbench to establishthe finite element model according to the axle size, and the analysis the hydrostaticsand modal meet the standard. After that, through the research on amount ofinterference and interference stress simulation analysis, the main reason for thespring-seat crack is the stress concentration and the optimization measure is proposed.Finally, through the force research on the flange thread hole and simulation onpressing, the measure is structure optimization which is reduce the distance of flangeinwall and effect for crack, it not only can decrease the stress concentration, increase the safetyfactor, but also is very useful for the axle housing design and manufacture.
