Reactive power in power grid has a very important role, not only relate to the power quality of the power users provided by power system, but also affect the safety and stability of the power grid operation itself. From the view of improving voltage quality and reducing network power consumption, we should minimize the reactive power flow, especially avoid long distance transportation within the grid. Reactive power optimization is an effective measure to improve voltage quality and reduce network losses, and with the increasing size of modern power system, the importance of reactive power optimization attracted more attention. Research work in the paper includes:Firstly, through analyzing node power balance and the branch node voltage loss and using the change relationship, this method gets approximate sensitivity of node voltage and branch reactive power flow to generation reactive power and voltage of slack node, and verifies accuracy through multiple studies.Secondly, based on proposed analysis, the paper gets sensitivity between different variables, such as node voltage sensitivity to reactive power, then compares and analyzes the results in a variety of methods, and further validates the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method.At last, based on the analysis of system network, the paper presents a generator reactive power optimization method aimed at improving reactive power distribution and reducing system network loss. This method draws active power loss relationship with the generator reactive power and balance node voltage changes; through the loss allocation method based on power tracing, the method allocates power loss to generation node and selects generation reactive power optimization nodes; by means of building approximate loss optimization model, the method computes the amount of reactive power optimization. By adjusting generator reactive power, this method reaches reactive power optimization purposes of improving voltage level and reactive power distribution, and fully embodies the features of simple and fast calculation. Multiple studies by different angles in Mathematics programming algorithm to achieve more effectiveness of the algorithm are validated in this paper.
