As the bridge of connecting product and manufacturing, process design has significantimpact on the quality of products, manufacturing cost and the response ability to the market,enterprise will use of the existing design experience and resources, and want to haveimproved on the basis of existing, improve the technological level of reuse. Therefore, theobject of this research is to realize the technological variant design of process for plate partsby process modeling to develop process variant design and build the design methods of modelwith the parametric design technology, finally, studied the variant design system of plateparts.Firstly, the current domestic and foreign research on3D CAPP technology are described and the principle of part process variant design technology based on the characteristics of variant design the parts is introduced in detail.Secondly, study the technological process variant design of parts From the level of processing characteristics, the process of variant design, based on the similarity of parts and process of reusable technology, structure unit is applied for process planning,and the coding architecture and method of reasoning generating for new structure unitare developed, One variant design method for plate parts process is provided.Thirdly, the manufacturing process oriented material reduction method is analyzed,the characteristics of the combination and the parameterized parts modeling method and the process model are developed. According to the variation of part features, the variant types of parts process are determined and the selection objective of the processroutes are achieved; According to the parametric template technology, the variation ofprocessing parameters and content in the process and the variant cards are realized. Finally, one prototype system for plate parts has developed and verified.
