A Planning Study Of The Round-the-city Park Based On Greenway Theories

With the continuous process of urbanization in China, a number of urban issues and contradictions have become increasingly prominent. On the one hand, the rapid development of the city and the impact of land revenue makes the urban land values keep rising. Inside the city is occupied by architectures and urban traffic space, it makes the lack of green areas and recreation parks. All these make the growing demand for outdoor recreation space of city dwellers and the shortage of outdoor leisure space become the principal contradiction in today’s domestic public leisure activities. On the other hand, the sprawl of urban expansion, makes the urban ecological environment continues to deteriorate, if not this trend be controlled from the land, it will exacerbate the severity of the former conflict. To solve this problem, the article combined the round-the-city park with the concept of greenways by reading the literature, case studies and practical projects, and discussed the development trends of the round-the-city park and proposed a planning solution based on greenway theories.Firstly, the basic concepts and theories related to the subject were reviewed, and based on the analysis and draws on cases, the article leads to the inevitability of the round-the-city park. In terms of trends, types of parks are diversified development, and also expanding its outreach. Park layout is from a single centralized model to a net connection and peri-urban integration; from a single recreation functions to coordinated configuration of city park resources which emphasis on the systematic pattern of trinity integrated functions which called "Recreation-Ecology-Landscape". In addition, as an important part of green space system, park land is also particularly vital for the control of urban form. Meanwhile, one of the trends is that as an upper planning, greenway planning will make restrictions and guidelines of the whole urban planning.Based on the summarize of how greenway theories impact the planning of round-the-city park, the article expounded the planning features, content and methods from the aspects of planning, design and the establishment of index system. Eventually, through the analysis of the round-the city park planning in Hohhot, the article is elaborated the specific application of the planning, and thus providing a viable reference to resolve these contradictions.
