In recent years the high speed railway has stepped into a rapid development period in China. And the high train density and great EMU power brings new challenge to the power system. To increase the catenary voltage level and decrease the power consumption at the same time, the traction network adopted commonly the overall parallel AT supply way. But the disadvantage of this way is that the system construction is too complex and the percentage of break down is relatively too high. For the traction power supply system of high speed railway, not only the safety and reliability of power supply should be guaranteed under normal situation, but also the flexibility should also be taken into consideration and the train should be powered under break down situation and urgent situation. Therefore, the study of the traction power supply system is quite urgent.The main point of this article is the operation way of high speed railway traction power supply system, and to make sure that it is running reliably and safely.Firstly, the advantages and disadvantages of high speed railway traction power supply system design in china recent years are briefly introduced in this article, the catenary and transformation equipment emergency, and the catenary melting ice’s special operation way. The current situation and problems of high speed railways which are already opened and under design are also carded.Secondly, to improve the traction power supply system architecture solutions to meet the system security, reliability and flexibility requirements is researched targeted based on the analysis of current situation. Mainly parts include the study of traction substation, AT substation and section post improved wiring scheme; computation under over-zone power supply; improved design of catenaries respond to various fault; and when AT transformer, positive feeder failures and so on, the research of power supply into a direct supply mode by AT supply.Finally, the program of catenary AC short method melting ice is researched systematically. It mainly includes the comparison and selection of AC short method melting ice circuit structure scheme, the system calculates, device configuration requirements and inverted gate operations, research on content protection scheme and so on.
