The development and application of e-commerce lead to an innovation in enterprise operational strategies with advanced management and service philosophy. As a platform for railway freight transportation, E-commerce provides significant convenience in information collection and delivering, which could be seen as the technical basis of railway freight transport informatization and automation. To automate the railway freight transport, transaction data should be standardized. Thus, it is a top priority to set standards for railway freight e-commerce.The subject studied in this thesis is based on the project of Research on Information Resources Integrated Application and Information Technology Service in Railway Freight E-commerce, a key project conducted by Department of Science and Technology, National railway corporation. Research in this thesis is aimed at standardizing the data interchange between railway departments and customers, which could be used in railway freight transport e-commerce. Specifically, the contents of this research are as follows:Firstly, analyze the status quo of railway freight transport to determine data interchange requirements and compatibility requirements during that. Investigate the existing data interchange standard system, and design the data interchange standard system for railway freight e-commerce based on the requirements.Secondly, specific designing method research for the standard system, taking data interchange requirements and compatibility requirements into consideration. The researches include documents coding research, aimed at determining the coding language and coding structure; data element classification research, aimed at determining coding method for different type of data element, and then establishing code directory for basic data element as well as custom data element; PIP research, aimed at determining PIP classification and coding method.Then, a case study based on the designing method and operation status of Shanghai Railway Bureau. The documents, data element coding and PIP are studied during the full-car load operation, which ranges from applications to approvals.
