The railway freight train locomotive, as the motivate source of tractive freight train, takes much percentage in railway transportation investment. The cycling connection effect of the railway section freight train locomotive, which acts as an important factor in railway transportation system optimizations, influents directly the efficiency and states of locomotive usages. Therefore, how to logically arrange cycling plane of section freight train locomotives to reduce the using quantities of locomotives, balance the usage of locomotives, reduce the sources and lead to higher efficiency causes widely attentions by those experts and scholars in this area. Based on former analysis and theories, this article analyzes the problems of locomotive cycling connecting optimizations according to influential factors of locomotive cycling. The main works about this article are listed as follows:1. Collect and read large number of relating sources and papers, summarize some real problems mainly solved by former’s analyzing results, then propose the meaning and details of this article.2. Summarize the main influential factors of locomotive cycling connecting process, and point the actual influence on locomotive cycling from factors such as train running charts, locomotive routings and revolves and locomotive types.3. Point the problems of locomotive cycling optimization analysis, according to influential factors of locomotive cycling optimization, analyze and compare the models, algorithms, solving characters and applying conditions of three classical method of integer programming problems, minimum fee and maximum flows problems and traveling salesman problems from degrees of whether the train running charts couple, whether double-locomotive traction is needed and the situation of locomotive routings.4. In the determination of boundary assumed conditions, this paper establishes the optimization model of freight train locomotive, and improves the models under conditions of the train diagram in pairs, non-pairs, double traction case. According to the characteristics of the model, it respectively uses the method of joint assignment,the minimum cost for given flow, minimum cost for given flow based on circulation flow to solve the above three kinds of circumstances. Finally, it does the balanced adjustment based on the optimal scheme.5. Taking Chengdu North station-West Chongqing station, Xining freight station-West Xining station, Tulufan station-Yuergou station as examples, Lingo11.0is used to conduct the real problem by programming calculation for getting the number of locomotive to the actual problem。Then the balance adjustment is used for Comparing with locomotive application results in the actual locomotive turnover chart.6. Summary the research contents and results of this paper. based on the analysis of influence factors and existing research achievements, this paper set up the locomotive working optimization model, and analyzes the limitation of the the assignment problem and the network flow problem in solving the problem on non-pairs and double traction problem. The problem of locomotive working is solved through improving the method to joint assignment, the minimum cost for given flow, minimum cost for given flow based on circulation flow. And the calculation results are helpful in reducing the number of locomotive and improving utilization efficiency.
