In recent years, construction of highway tunnels has been developed rapidly in China. However, complicated tunnels’geological conditions, especially hydrogeological conditions, result in frequent occurrence of diseases during the tunnels’operation, which brings out potential safety hazard. Thereinto, seepage disease is one of the most common diseases of highway tunnels.With several highway tunnels under operation in Chongqing as engineering background, the detection and evaluation system of highway tunnels’seepage diseases were analyzed, by means of on-site survey, data analysis, mathematic modeling with fuzzy theories etc. The main contents and results are listed as follows:1. By carrying out field research for operating highway tunnels in Chongqing, the influence factors were analyzed and index system of seepage diseases was established, after which four rank standards of seepage diseases’ influence factors were proposed.2. The traditional detection methods and nondestructive detection methods, which both belong to conventional detection methods, were analyzed in this paper. The advantages, disadvantages and applicability of various detection methods were compared. Moreover, indexes for different detection methods of tunnels’seepage diseases were studied and the special inspection tables of tunnels’ seepage diseases were made.3. The evaluation system of highway tunnels’ seepage diseases was established, by using fuzzy mathematics methods, to assess the tunnels’seepage diseases comprehensively. In terms of the severity, tunnels’seepage diseases were categorized into four grades, Grade I, II, III, IV respectively. Tunnels’seepage diseases evaluation was set as the target layer, and the natural conditions, surrounding rock and groundwater, design, construction and operation were set as the criterion layers. Every criterion layer has four indicators, with20indicators in total. By carrying out two levels of fuzzy synthetic evaluation, tunnels’seepage diseases grade was obtained based on principles of maximum membership degree law.4. Evaluation software of tunnels’ seepage diseases was developed to evaluate tunnels’ seepage diseases in the daily life. Case study, by selecting Zhengyang tunnel as the classical example of tunnels’seepage disease with some typical sections’being selected for the synthetic evaluation to obtain the seepage diseases grade, was carried out and results accord with the statistics.
