With the fast development of our nation’s metro traction system, as the more convenient, much faster, more economic and more environment friendly transportation way, the metro plays a more and more important role in the city’s transportation system. Traction power supply system is such an important component of metro, and it’s the key source of metro vehicle’s power supply. Simulation analysis is the important way to study the traction power supply system. How to use the software to make out the certain model of traction power supply system is becoming one of the research areas of railways. RTDS is the most earliest and most applicantble realtime digital simulation software of the world. Based on the RTDS to make the model of the metro traction power supply system, and then use it to study the system’s characteristics, and what’s more, make an experient to test the control equipment, relay protection equipment and safty-steady control equipment. This way is very useful to design the equipment and test its property, and give out the basis of next research.RTDS for HVDC field has achieved widespread success, traction power supply system and HVDC systems have similarities, they both have the rectified links and can be used to transmits DC.This paper focus on the metro traction power supply system under DC power supply system, with the element of RTDS, make out the model of24-pluse traction transformer, traction network and locomotive., and then use it to simulate and study the metro traction power supply system. By changing the parameter, simulate the accident situation, simulate it under different situation. The model can be changed easily, the parameters can be set conveninently, improved simulation efficiency.Modelling the metro traction power supply system by using RTDS, the metro’s load characteristic was simulated. And by simulating and analysis the metro’s fault situation, the validity and avalibility of the model was tested out, which makes a foundation of next DC protection equipment’s research.
