With the acceleration of the economic globalization, international commerce and logistics businesses have developed prosperously. The running ability and efficiency of modern logistics are highly demanded in today’s international business. While, shipping business, as an important part of modern logistics system, has always been the focus of the researchers’research and discussion. As the key element of shipping logistics, its internal network configuration level and running efficiency have the direct bearing on the operating efficiency of the whole logistics system, even directly influence the international trade efficiency and the economic benefit of the whole container terminals. Therefore, it is necessary to deeply study every step in the internal network of container terminals and find the solutions to the existing problems of each node, so as to increase the operating efficiency of the whole container terminals’internal network. The present paper first elaborated the research background and significance of the current study, then gave an overall review and summary of the literature at home and abroad. Next, the paper introduced the research content and structure of the paper. The main part of the paper first gave an overview of the internal logistics network of container terminals, including its position and role, components, major features and hierarchical structure. Next, the paper introduced the essential theoretical approach to studying container terminals internal network---queuing network theory. The most essential part of the paper was using quantitative calculating tools and the simulation modeling based on the queuing network to solve the configuration problems of every node in the internal network, through comparatively analyzing the results of analytic calculation and simulation calculation. In the end, the paper briefly summarized the whole research content and proposed the forecast to future research. The current paper, based on queuing network theory, analyzed and studied the configuration problems of every node in the internal network of container terminals by means of simulation modeling. To some extent, it provided reference value for the development and optimization of container terminals’internal logistics network.
