The hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) have a great potential development for its lowfuel consumption, low emission and good power performance. The differential powerspilt device (PSD) is a key component of HEV, and its work effects the performanceof HEV. However, PSD has a higher speed and differential speed, and in the test isfound that PSD has problems of planetary shaft breakage, planetary gear gasket burn,excessive meshing noise, which need further study of design and analysis ofdifferential power coupling device. In this paper, combining with the national naturalscience foundation of China:“design theory and method for power split device ofhybrid electric vehicle in multi-field coupling”, the development of design andanalysis of PSD technology are researched. The main research includes:(1) The paper reviews many literatures and summarizes the research status ofrelated technologies, and states the research value. Meanwhile, the paper analyzes thework principle, working mode, control principle of PSD and provides a design oflubricating oil systems of PSD;(2) The paper researches the mathematical model of spiral bevel gear, summarizesthree modeling method including the matrix method, the vector method and thegeometry method, and illustrates the detail of modeling process;(3) The paper provides a simulation method of dynamic contact analysis of PSD inthe application of Abaqus, and compared the dynamic contact characteristics of onepair of gear and the gear train, achieves the affecting factors of dynamic contactcharacteristics of PSD gear;(4) The paper provides a simulation method of lubricating flow field analysis ofPSD in the application of Fluent, and analyzes the influence of oil depth and speed onthe lubricating flow field characteristics.The research can provide guidance for the further application of PSD, especiallyin the design of the spiral bevel gears and differential bevel gear train.
