In recent years, with rapid development of the automobile industry, people claim ahigher performance requirements on the cars. And because the center of mass of the tractoris high and has a longer length compared to other cars,the research of the tractorperfprmance becomes an important issue.Also the handling and stability of the vehicle isrelated to the vehicle safety and comfort performance. Therefore, the handling and stabilitystudy has an important role for improving the stability of the tractor vehicle.Since R&D research separation,this research can not only provide a reference forimproving the mechanical properties of the tire factories,and also provide technical supportfor making optimal driving performance of the vehicle design companies.In this paper,it had researched the mechanical properties about the wide based singletire and double tires and there impact on the tractor,and also analysed the handing andstability of the tractor,based on the project of “the wide based single tire performance andimpact on the J6tractor”. This paper mainly does research in the following aspects:1. The theoretical study of the mechanical properties of the tire model.According to the analysis of the project background,the tire unsteady corneringtheoretical model was researched under different tire width conditions,obtaining the factorsinfluencing the mechanical properties. Through qualitative analysis of the differencebetween the different factors, the main factors was got affecting the handling and stability.2.The test study of the tire mechanical properties.Through the analysis of the tire theory and its cases,the study determined to use PAC2002tire model. The study focuses on the wide based single tire and double tires,testingthere mechanical properties on the pure longitudinal slip, pure cornering and complexconditions.Meanwhile,based on the test data,the difference mechanical propertiesbetween these two tires was analysed.3. The parameter identification of the tire model.Through the study of the method of the tire model parameter identification,the hybridoptimization algorithm was proposed. The parameters identification of the tire model wascompleted using the test data,getting the parameters in the tire model on the pure longitudinal slip, pure cornering and complex conditions.Finally, the tire simulation modelwas obtained based on the parameters4. The vehicle performance research matching with the wide based single tire anddouble tires.After studied the evaluation method of handling stability,it was put forward that theevaluation system about the handling and stability of the tractor tire, based on theevaluation method of the total variance.And then, the tractor simulation model wasestablished using the vehicle parameters and the tire model parameters based on theTruckSim.Finally, the handling and stability of the tractor was studied when matching witha wide based single tire and double tires.The results shows that when the tractor matches with a wide based single tire, theoverall burden on the driver will reduce; the orbit error and sliding stability are quite withmatching double tires. However, the direction error, roll stability and transientcharacteristics are poor. Thus, for the development of the wide based single tire, the rollstability and transient characteristics should be put critical consideration when installed ona vehicle,in order to optimize the vehicle performance.In summary,it’s vital that studying the vehicle performance and finding the keyfeatures of the tire related to the vehicle for the tire factories producting tires and thevehicle corporations positioning in the vehicle.
