With the development of automobile technology, people have higher requirements onthe performance of automobile. In order to improve the vehicle performance, carmanufacturers have adopted a variety of advanced technologies. Electro-rheologicaltechnology is one of the important technical research directions in the field of mechanicaland electrical engineering during the21st century, and it will produce important meaning toimprove the performance of vehicles. In this paper, the electro-rheological technology hasbeen applied in the automobile clutch, and some researches on the automotiveelectro-rheological clutch have been done. This thesis’s content can be divided intofollowing several aspects:Firstly, studied the mechanical properties of electro-rheological fluids and introducedthe electro-rheological clutch structure; constructed dynamic model of electro-rheologicalclutch according to the mechanical properties of electro-rheological fluids and the designedstructure of clutch; elaborated the control principle and work process of theelectro-rheological clutch.Secondly, a high voltage power supply system that used by electro-rheological clutchhave been researched and designed according to the clutch control principle; elaborated thevoltage regulating principle of this power supply; showed the voltage regulating processthrough software simulation. Those work has provided fundamental conditions for theelectro-rheological clutch control.Then elaborated the quality evaluation indexes in the vehicle starting and shiftingprocess and analyzed the electro-rheological clutch engaging procedure; formulated thecontrol strategies and identified the control algorithm for electro-rheological clutchaccording to the clutch engaging requirements and the clutch control principles during theprocess of vehicle starting and shifting.Finally, built the vehicle simulation model which included engine model, electro-rheological clutch model and vehicle driving resistance model; with the help ofMatlab/Simulink software, the electro-rheological clutch control strategies were simulated;Through analyzed simulation results, the correctness and rationality of the controlstrategies that have been made were verified.This thesis has done many researches on the electro-rheological clutch which willoffer some theoretical references for the future research and bring practical value for theelectro-rheological clutch that will be used in real vehicles.
