Intelligent Substation based on IEC61850standard and Ethernet communication willbe a current as well as future research subject of the electric power industry. Consideringthe fact that traditional primary equipments have a variety of different interfaces andcommunication protocols, and cannot be applied to the intelligent substation system, amethod of “traditional primary equipment+smart component” can be used to solve theproblem. As an intelligent part of the primary device after renovation, the smart componenttakes the responsibility to intellectualize the device. A smart component should support theservices of IEC61850standard and output data based on the standard. Then a traditionalequipment can be accessed the intelligent system through a smart component and runcompatibly.Based on the working principle of smart component, this paper does some researchabout the IEC61850communication on a transformer smart component and constructs aserver software system to run in the transformer smart device on Linux system and realizesthe conversion of traditional communication protocol of transformer acquisition equipmentto IEC61850protocol.The article also introduces the working process, hardware structure and principle ofthe transformer intelligent device, and the software flow is also involved. Finally, in thispaper, a kind of client software for test is set up, and the correctness of the communicationof the smart component based on IEC61850protocol is verified.
