Car Body engineering is the youngest branch in the modern automobile industry,at thesame time, developed very quickly. As an important part of the car body system, itsperformance will directly be related to the car’s overall safety, comfort and durability. Theindicators which can be used to evaluate the performance of car door include:sinkingstiffness,torsional stiffness, belt line stiffness, window frame stiffness and modal frequency,concave resistance and impact resistance. By means of CAE analysis, not only to make thedesign of the door meets the standards of the development of the enterprise, it is moreimportant to use CAE optimization techniques throughout the whole development process ofnew vehicles. The paper takes CAE analysis of the car door included in the whole car analysisas the research object, the main research contents and results are as follows:First, geometric clean, finite element mesh and determining the working conditions andload conditions for original car door CATIA3D mathematical model. Making the finiteelement model meets the enterprises related standards;Second, finite element analysis is used to evaluate the car door sinking stiffness、torsional stiffness、belt line stiffness、window frame stiffness、concave resistance and impactresistance performance. The results meet the relevant enterprise standards.The vibration modeand the low-order modal value can avoid the resonance excitation source, except white carbody through modal analysis. The first order modal of the door and the first-order bendingmodal of the white body exist the possibility of resonance. Therefore, taking the first ordermodal frequency values of the car door as the optimization goal;Third, do rigid column crash test of the finite element model of the car door based onthe members of the vehicle side impact protection legislation in our country with reference toFMVSS214and Euro NCAP standards, etc.Optimize collision based on the results.Change the original circular tube plate girder to the form of Y anticollision beam, the impact resistance ofthe car door were improved by the change;Fourth, screen out the main design variables which have significant impact on the maincharacteristic indexes: torsional rigidity and the first order modal value combining the methodof sensitivity analysis with response surface optimization algorithm. Optimize design basedon changes in the thickness of the car door parts;Fifth,CAE method is applied to the structure lightweight design of the car door with theapplication of new materials (Aluminium Alloy2017).
