Research On Door-to-Door Related Issues Of Railway Freight

With the rapid development of national economy, the continuing escalation of industrial structure, the service level of the transportation demand becomes more complex and the service quality becomes more strictly. These year, the railway market share in domestic transportation industry declines slightly, in spite of the railway mileage as well as the equipment level increases year by year. In order to meet a variety of customer’s requirements, enhance the railway service’s quality and benefits, railway is developing railway freight "door to door" transport organization strategy. In2011the ministry of railways have issued the "opinions of diversified railway management" and "the extension of railway goods transportation service chain, speed up the development of railway modern logistics of the implementation opinions" policy, which implied directly that the railway transportation need to reform from "station to station" to "door to door" development. In the national railway freight reform work conference of2013, China railway corporation general manager Mr. Sheng instructed to develop the railway "door to door" logistics services. Therefore, the study of railway goods "door to door" transport organization would provide a theoretic basis for the railway goods "door to door" transportation and would help to improve the railway transportation service, to expand the transportation market and to enhance competitiveness. This article mainly studied and discussed these five aspects below.(1) The current research and development of domestic and foreign door-to-door transportation was described and the successful experience of the door-to-door service was summarized.(2) The railway goods "door to door" transportation situation is introduced, to be specific, which include railway goods "door to door" transportation organization category definition, service targets, analysis of the transport demand, as well as its transport mode.(3) The traditional railway freight operation process was analyzed, the optimization goal and basic idea was puts forward, and the traditional business process, an obstacle to door-to-door transportation, was optimized in accordance with China’s railway freight reform. The paper mainly include to simplification of the business process, the design of the distribution process, which include the optimization of transact business process, as well as that of transportation planning process.
