Compared with traditional internal combustion engines, StarRotor engine as a newBrayton cycle engine, promises high power density, multi-fuel, low cost etc. As one of themain components of the StarRotor engine, the compressor directly affects the efficiency,fuel consumption and many other properties of the engine. The Internal Meshing GearCompressor, as a type of displacement compressors, suits the StarRotor engine very well.The Internal Meshing Gear Compressor takes Trochoid Intermeshing Rotor Structure,which usually was used for oil pump, the working medium from liquid to gas, requires morestringent institute on the design of this structure. The Internal Meshing Gear Compressorreduces the temperature of the working medium by wet compression, and thus research onthe impact of wet compression on the performance of Internal Meshing Gear Compressorhas very important significance.The paper presents the overall design of the Internal Meshing Gear Compressor byinvestigation into overall design of StarRotor engine and the working features of theInternal Meshing Gear Compressor, and further gives the design of the gear type line andthe calculation of the working chamber volume of the Trochoid Gear Structure. By thedesign of the pressure ratio control mechanism, the requirement of adjustable pressure ratioof the Internal Meshing Gear Compressor is met and by the design of the synchronousmechanism, the problem of fighting tooth of the Trochoid Gear Structure is avoided. Bycomparing the finite element analysis of the Trochoid Gear Structure made by45steel andAl, the paper gives the requirement of the material selection of the Trochoid Gear Structureof the Internal Meshing Gear Compressor. From the perspective of the overall design of StarRotor engine and the performanceparameter of the compressor, the paper establishes the thermodynamic models of thecompressor, and studies the performance of the Internal Meshing Gear Compressor bydividing the compression process into two categories: isothermal compression andnon-isothermal compression. The results show that the Internal Meshing Gear Compressorwith wet compression has advantages of a wide range of pressure, no surge, low power, etc.,and that an increase of spray water ratio within a certain range, can significantly reduce theexhaust gas temperature of the compressor, and reduces the pressure ratio to some extent,and that the increase of volume ratio within a certain range causes an increase of the exhaustgas temperature pressure ratio and power of the compressor.The study of the design of the Internal Meshing Gear Compressor and the performanceof the Internal Meshing Gear Compressor with wet compression, lays a foundation for thedevelopment of the StarRotor engine, provides a new idea for the design of the engine,which has an extremely important significance to improve the engine performance.
